Attending MUN Summit 2024

On March 18, 2024, Youth Empowerment’s representative attended the MUN Summit 2024, a day-long event aimed at empowering youth and strengthening ties between Model UN and the United Nations. The summit emphasized elevating young voices in international affairs and equipping them with the skills to enact change. Discussions highlighted Model UN’s role in engaging youth and its potential to contribute to the UN youth agenda, exploring areas for improvement and future trajectories. The event fostered dialogue on collaboration between the UN and civil society, identifying concrete steps for progress and securing Model UN’s legacy. Practical workshops on best practices in Model UN and strategies for empowering youth voices were conducted, along with a networking reception for attendees to connect with professionals and explore career opportunities.

Organized by MUNers Across Borders (MAB) and the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA), the summit took place on March 18, 2024, at the New York Hilton Midtown, with Technical Advisor from the New Myanmar Foundation, partner of Youth Empowerment attending in person and a Youth Empowerment member participating online. The opening ceremony featured remarks from the UN Secretary-General and other high-level officials, setting the stage for interactive sessions, panel discussions, and in-depth afternoon sessions on Model UN’s future and youth engagement in global governance. The summit concluded with reflections on the progress made and a networking reception, positioning Model UN as a key player in shaping a more inclusive and youth-driven future.
