International Human Rights Day Awareness (December 10, 2023)

On December 10, 2023, New Myanmar Foundation, and its partner organization, Youth Empowerment (YE), conducted an International Human Rights Day Awareness Sharing in Sagaing Region, Myanmar, targeting 40 residents. This event aimed to raise awareness about human rights, the significance of Human Rights Day, and provide essential operational security training to local residents. Activities included an informative session on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, discussions on the importance of Human Rights Day, and training on basic security principles, digital security awareness, and safe communication practices.

Despite challenges such as limited resources, security concerns, and varying levels of prior awareness among participants, the campaign successfully increased knowledge about human rights, empowered residents to protect their rights, and prepared them to safeguard their communities. Recommendations for future efforts include regular awareness campaigns, community capacity building, collaboration with stakeholders, and resource mobilisation. This event highlighted NMF’s resilience and commitment to human rights work, contributing to a more informed and empowered community in the Sagaing Region.
