Youth Empowerment Representative Attends Launch of Women in Political Participation (WPP) in Africa Barometer Webinar
On July 10, 2024, Youth Empowerment (YE) attended the “Launch of Women in Political Participation (WPP) in Africa Barometer” webinar. The event, held from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm (CEST), was a significant occasion aimed at enhancing women’s political engagement across Africa.The WPP Barometer aims to provide crucial data to support legislators and policymakers in enhancing women’s political participation and leadership. The event began with an introduction emphasizing the importance of women’s roles in governance, followed by an inspiring keynote address on gender equality and the impact of women’s leadership. The core segment featured a detailed presentation of the WPP Barometer, outlining the research methodology, current findings on women’s political representation, and the impact of their participation on policy outcomes.
A panel discussion with policymakers and women’s rights activists explored legislative reforms, capacity building, and public awareness strategies. The interactive session allowed participants to engage actively, sharing ideas and experiences. The webinar concluded with closing remarks reaffirming the WPP Barometer’s role in advocacy and policy development. As a CSO, we found the event enlightening and empowering, providing valuable insights and practical strategies for promoting gender parity in political leadership.
