Video Clip on Record of Protests Against the Military (June 2024)
Since the military’s illegal takeover, the people of Myanmar have continuously voiced their dissent through numerous protests. In response, the junta has enforced brutal repression, including widespread arrests, detentions, torture, and even deadly force against protesters. Despite enduring over two years of such an oppressive regime, Myanmar’s citizens remain steadfast in their resistance against the coup and authoritarian rule.
In June 2024, the Women Lead Resource Center (WLRC), Magway Region Human Rights Network (MHRN), and Youth Empowerment (YE) released a thorough video report detailing the protests against the military council’s harsh tactics and unjust governance. This report is based on data gathered from news outlets and regional field collectors. It is recognized that some protests may not be captured, and the true extent of demonstrations against the military council could be greater than what is reported.
The video highlights the enduring spirit and resilience of the Myanmar people as they continue their relentless pursuit of justice and democracy.
